What are winter sports?
Winter sports cover disciplines on snow and ice: skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, curling and sledding. In Türkiye the snow season runs roughly December to March at resorts such as Uludağ, Erciyes, Palandöken, Kartalkaya and Davraz; ice skating runs year-round on indoor rinks.
This page lists lesson packages, equipment rental, ski trips with accommodation and day trips with transfers. For a first time on snow, rental plus a beginner lesson is the most efficient combination.

What to look for in a ski resort or school
In winter sports, most of the cost and comfort is decided at planning time:
- Piste variety: the number of beginner (blue) runs matters most for a first trip.
- Rental quality: ski/board servicing and correct boot sizing.
- Instructor language and group size; private or group lessons.
- Snow conditions and season calendar; refund or reschedule policy if there is no snow.
- Accommodation and transfer: distance to the lifts, and whether the ski pass is included.
Frequently asked questions
Is skiing or snowboarding easier to learn?
Standing up on day one is usually easier on skis; snowboarding is harder at first but often progresses quickly afterwards. It largely comes down to preference.
Is renting equipment enough?
For the first seasons, yes. Rental gear is set up for your level; buying makes sense once you ski regularly.
When does the season open?
Depending on snowfall, most resorts open in December and run to late March. Exact dates appear in each listing’s season information.
