1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file, usually made up of letters and numbers, that a website stores on your device through your browser. Cookies keep your session open, remember your preferences, help the site run securely and allow usage to be measured.
Alongside cookies, the platform may use other technologies with similar functions:
- Local storage (localStorage / sessionStorage): storing your preferences in your browser.
- Pixels and tracking tags: measuring whether a page has been displayed.
- Software development kits (SDKs): equivalent measurement and functionality in mobile interfaces.
In this policy the word “cookie” covers all of the above.
2. Why we use cookies
- To keep your session securely open and prevent loss of basket or reservation steps.
- To remember your language, province and display preferences.
- To protect form submissions against fraud and automated attacks.
- To understand which pages are used and how often, detect errors and improve the platform.
- Where you have given explicit consent, to display campaigns and advertising relevant to your interests and measure their effect.
3. Types of cookies
Cookies used on the platform fall into four categories by function. The actual cookie names can always be viewed in your browser’s developer tools under “Application → Cookies”.
| Category / cookie | Purpose | Duration | Party |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session cookie (strictly necessary) | Keeps a signed-in user’s session open and carries your identity between pages. | Session / max. 2 hours of inactivity | First party |
| Security cookie — CSRF token (strictly necessary) | Protects form submissions against cross-site request forgery. | Session | First party |
| Load balancing / infrastructure cookie (strictly necessary) | Routes your requests to the correct server and keeps the service available. | Session | First party / infrastructure provider |
| Cookie preference cookie (strictly necessary) | Stores your response to the cookie notice so you are not asked again. | 12 months | First party |
| Language and region preference (preference) | Remembers the language and province you selected. | 12 months | First party |
| Interface preferences (preference) | Stores your sorting, filter and display choices. | 6 months | First party |
| Analytics / measurement cookies (performance) | Measures visitor numbers, page views, navigation paths and error rates on an aggregated, statistical basis. | Session – 24 months | First and third party |
| Performance monitoring cookies (performance) | Detects page load times and application errors. | Session – 12 months | First and third party |
| Advertising and remarketing cookies (marketing) | Displays advertising relevant to your interests, caps frequency and measures advertising performance. | 3 – 24 months | Third party |
| Conversion measurement pixels (marketing) | Measures whether a visit originating from an advertisement resulted in a reservation. | 3 – 12 months | Third party |
| Social media cookies (marketing) | Enables sharing of content on social networks and the operation of embedded content. | Session – 24 months | Third party |
3.1. Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the platform’s core functions: signing in, completing reservation steps, security and fraud prevention. The service cannot be provided without them, so they cannot be switched off and are not subject to explicit consent. The legal grounds are performance of a contract and legitimate interests under Article 5/2 of Law No. 6698, together with the exception in Article 51 of Law No. 5809 on Electronic Communications (Elektronik Haberleşme Kanunu).
3.2. Preference cookies
These remember your language, province and interface choices. If you refuse them the platform still works, but you may have to set your preferences again on each visit.
3.3. Performance and analytics cookies
These let us see, as aggregated statistics, how many people visit which pages, where they struggle and which errors occur. The results focus on overall trends rather than individual users. These cookies are subject to your explicit consent.
3.4. Marketing cookies
Used through advertising and social networks to display relevant campaigns and measure advertising effectiveness. They operate only with your explicit consent and are not placed unless you consent.
4. Third-party cookies
Cookies of third-party service providers may be used for functions such as analytics, advertising, video and maps. Those cookies are subject to the provider’s own privacy and cookie policies, and Sporara does not control processing carried out by those providers for their own purposes. Third-party providers may be established abroad; any such transfer is made in accordance with Article 9 of Law No. 6698.
You can see which third-party cookies are active from the cookie preference panel and from your browser’s cookie list.
5. Managing your cookie preferences
5.1. On the platform
You can accept or refuse non-essential cookies through the cookie notice shown on your first visit. You may change your choice at any time from the cookie settings link in the page footer. Withdrawing your consent does not affect processing lawfully carried out before the withdrawal.
5.2. Through browser settings
All modern browsers allow you to view, delete and block cookies. The relevant settings are usually found at:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage website data.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
If you block all cookies in your browser, strictly necessary cookies will also be blocked and core functions such as signing in and making reservations may not work.
5.3. Advertising preferences
You can also manage advertising cookies through the preference centres of advertising networks and through the options in your mobile operating system to reset your advertising identifier or limit personalised advertising.
6. Cookies and your personal data
IP addresses, cookie identifiers, device details and browsing information collected through cookies may constitute personal data. For strictly necessary cookies, processing relies on the legal grounds in Article 5/2 of Law No. 6698; for preference, analytics and marketing cookies it relies on your explicit consent under Article 5/1.
