What are motorsports?

Motorsports cover disciplines ridden or driven on a circuit or off-road: karting, motocross, ATV, off-road, jeep safari and motorcycle track days. They combine speed with vehicle control, and closed-circuit activities that need no driving licence are the usual entry point.

Listings range from one-off experience drives to training programmes and competitions. Protective equipment is included by most operators — check the listing’s "what’s included" list.

Motorsport disciplines

KartingEntry level on a closed circuit, usually without a licence requirement; junior categories exist.
Motocross & enduroMotorcycles on dirt tracks; heavy on balance and body position.
ATV & off-roadGuided terrain driving in all-terrain vehicles.
Jeep safariGuided off-road tours where the operator usually drives.

What to look for in a circuit or organiser

In motorsport, safety comes from equipment and circuit management:

  • Protective gear: helmet, neck brace, elbow and knee protection, and fit checks.
  • Circuit safety: barriers, tyre walls, flag procedure and a response team.
  • Vehicle maintenance: brakes, tyres and belts checked regularly.
  • Briefing: are rules and flags explained before the session?
  • Age and licence requirements: junior karting categories, licence rules on track days.

Frequently asked questions

Can I go karting without a driving licence?

Closed-circuit karting usually requires no licence, but age and height limits apply. The listing states the conditions.

Do I need to bring my own gear?

Most operators provide a helmet and suit. If you prefer your own helmet, it will be checked for compliance.

Can children take part?

Karting and some ATV tracks run junior categories; the minimum age and height are stated in each listing.
