Straddling two continents, Istanbul is one of the fastest cities for a flying racket, and on the weekend of September 5-6, 2026 it hosts an individual table tennis tournament. From the neighborhood gyms of Kadikoy to the club tables of Besiktas, the city's deep-rooted ping pong culture takes center stage. Early September, when the summer heat finally breaks and a sea breeze drifts into the indoor hall, offers ideal timing for peak reflexes and concentration.
The tournament is played entirely individually; there are no teams, and both victory and defeat belong to you alone. The first stage uses a Swiss-system group round: everyone is matched against opponents of similar level, and no one is knocked out after a single loss. After scoring, the strongest players advance to a single-elimination bracket where the tension peaks. Sets are played to 11 points; group matches follow best-of-5 (first to 3), while elimination and final matches use best-of-7 (first to 4). Every match is governed by official ITTF rules, from the mandatory 16 cm service toss and net height to point-based timeouts and racket inspection, all under referee supervision.
Beginner, intermediate and advanced categories ensure that a first-time amateur is never dragged into an uneven match against a seasoned regional player. Anyone aged 16 and over may apply; residents, workers, and weekend visitors to Istanbul are all welcome. If you love reflexes, footwork and speed control, and can hold your focus for two hours, this tournament has a place for you.
Registration is completed through Sporara's secure payment system; places are limited, so early sign-up is recommended. The fee includes hall use, official match balls and refereeing. At the closing awards ceremony, the top three in each category receive medals and trophies, and the day's most sportsmanlike player earns a special plaque. Reserve your spot on Sporara now and carry Istanbul's energy onto the table.
8 groups × 4 teams, single round-robin. The top two of each group advance to the next round.
Single-match knockout from the quarter-finals onward. Extra time + penalties in case of a draw.
Teams consist of a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 players. ID details and a health report are required for each player. The registration fee is charged per team and is non-refundable for incomplete teams.
