What does this tour offer?

Cutting through the mountainous geography of Artvin, the Çoruh River hosts one of Turkey's fastest-flowing and most technical rafting courses. In the sections around Yusufeli, the river creates grade 3-4 waves, eddies, and rocky narrows, offering an exciting introduction for beginners and a technical challenge for experienced rafters. The green mountains flanking both sides of the valley, terraced gardens, and historic bridges add an impressive backdrop to the route; the villages and plateaus along the riverbank also offer opportunities for short explorations before or after the tour.

What's Included

The tour includes transfers from the meeting point to the riverside, all rafting equipment including life jackets and helmets, a safety briefing led by a certified rafting guide, and professional guidance throughout the course. Descents are made in 6-8 person rafts depending on group size; a short practical training session on paddling techniques and commands is provided before the tour. A warm meal and a rest break at the end of the tour are usually added to the program. Waterproof storage is provided for personal belongings, and photo and video services may be included in some programs for interested participants.

Safety and Participation

Due to the high flow rate of the Çoruh, participants are required to have basic swimming skills and to follow the guide's instructions completely. Anyone over the age of 16 with no health restrictions can participate; for younger age groups, calmer lower courses may be preferred depending on the region. Guides evaluate the route in advance, may make adjustments based on water levels, and can decide to redirect to safer alternative sections if necessary.

Best Season

Due to the river flow fed by snowmelt, April to July is the busiest and most exciting period; towards the end of summer, the water level drops, and the course takes on a calmer character. The cool mountain air combined with high-flow waters makes the Çoruh unique for both nature and adventure enthusiasts; thanks to the region's high altitude, it offers a refreshing experience even in the summer heat.
