Ordu Tennis Experience
About the experience
On the lush green Black Sea coast, in Ordu where the hazelnut orchards descend towards the sea, tennis turns into a delightful open-air experience in this charming coastal city where clouds brush against the mountains and the air is always fresh and moist. Looking out to sea from Boztepe or swinging your racket on a court by the shore, you breathe in the unique green of the Black Sea. This is not a course; it is a relaxed, social tennis gathering about feeling good. Our aim is not to prepare you for a race, but to help you spend a pleasant few hours in the fresh air.
Why play tennis in Ordu?
Ordu is one of the greenest cities of the Black Sea; a charming town whose hazelnut-covered hills descend to the sea, where you ride a cable car up to Boztepe, stretching along the shore. Its climate is typically Black Sea; mild but rainy, green in every season. So the most ideal times for outdoor tennis are the dry days of summer and the clear weather of spring and autumn. Sports facilities in central Altinordu and along the shore offer spacious courts facing the sea or green hills. The constant freshness of the air lets you move without tiring.
The court and the atmosphere
Ordu's warm-hearted, cheerful people are felt on court too; everyone who comes soon becomes part of the conversation. The courts are usually in spacious areas facing the sea or green hills. The clean, moist Black Sea air fills your lungs; this fresh air lets you rally for a long time without tiring. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly; no one keeps score, everyone is at their own ease.
What awaits you in the experience?
A friendly companion welcomes you on court. You first prepare your body with a light warm-up, then get acquainted with the racket and discover at a relaxed pace how to approach the ball. With gently fed balls you make your first strokes over the net and naturally feel the flow of the forehand and the rhythm of the backhand. As you feel ready, we move on to short rallies, net play and simple serve attempts. Our aim is not to prepare you for a race but to let you enjoy that pleasant moment when the ball meets the racket. No competition, no pressure; just movement, laughter and a good day in the green.
Who can you share the experience with?
Someone who has never played and someone wishing to start again after a long break can both join comfortably. For students of Ordu University it can be a break between classes, for workers a way to shed the week's stress, and for families a chance to move together by the sea. You can come with a friend, your partner or on your own. Everyone up to intermediate level feels at ease here; no flawless serve is expected.
Best season and hours
The most pleasant times for tennis are the dry days of summer and the clear weather of spring and autumn. In summer, morning or late afternoon hours are ideal, and the midday heat rarely oppresses on the Black Sea. Because of the Black Sea climate the weather can be changeable; if it rains, the schedule can be flexible. The clear days when the clouds part are magical.
What should you bring?
Comfortable sportswear and flat-soled sports shoes are enough; rackets and balls are provided. Because of Ordu's changeable climate, keeping a light raincoat or windbreaker with you is wise. Ending the day by riding the cable car up to Boztepe for tea against the view or walking along the shore is the most Ordu way to finish. Fill your water bottle and leave the rest to us; just enjoy tennis in the green.
