Kapadokya Ultra-Trail is one of Turkey's most unique trail running events, held among the fairy chimneys, rock-carved valleys, and volcanic tuff plateaus of Nevşehir. The course offers a technically and visually rich ultra experience, combining colorful valley routes like Kızılçukur, Güllüdere, and Zemi Valley with narrow trails and occasional rugged volcanic terrain. Along the route, rock-carved churches, pigeon houses, and natural amphitheater-like valley slopes add a historical layer to the run. The course, which averages an altitude of 1000-1300 meters, requires both physical endurance and terrain mastery. Sporara's tour program allows participants to focus solely on the race by planning participation along with local accommodation and transfer services.
The package covers your official ultra-trail race registration, an accommodation option near the valleys, and organized transfers to the start/finish points. Participants are provided with a technical bag containing a gear list suitable for the course, a thermal blanket, and a race bib set; additionally, training recommendations focusing on balance and pace management on volcanic terrain are shared. Recommended climbing and descending exercises for sections with elevation changes are also included in this guidance.
Ranging from short-distance options to long ultra categories, the program caters to different levels, from trail running beginners to experienced ultra runners. Due to technical descents within the valleys and loose volcanic soil, prior trail running experience is recommended.
The event is typically held in October, during the region's cool and dry autumn weather; during this period, the colors of the valleys and the angle of the light add a distinct visual layer to the run. The trails winding through the fairy chimneys offer a unique route that blends sports with the geological texture of Kapadokya, giving participants the opportunity to experience the region's unique scenery under the morning mist while running.
