Kartepe (Kocaeli) Ski & Snowboard Winter Camp

Kartepe, the closest ski resort to Istanbul, is a practical getaway located within the borders of Kocaeli, situated on the slopes overlooking Sapanca Lake, and reachable in about an hour and a half to two hours from the city. With an altitude of around 1600-1650 meters, Kartepe remains lower than other major resorts, yet it maintains slope quality throughout the season thanks to its snowmaking systems. Although primarily known for day trips, this resort offers ease of access for participants from Istanbul and its surroundings, providing intensive training opportunities for beginner-level children and teenagers during our 5-7 day residential winter camp.

Location and Slope Structure of Kartepe

The slopes, positioned on hills overlooking Sapanca Lake, offer a suitable learning area especially for beginners with their relatively short but well-maintained routes. Its proximity to Istanbul both shortens travel time and facilitates family visits. Since snow depth can vary depending on weather conditions, snowmaking systems play a crucial role in maintaining slope quality.

Services Included in the Camp

The package includes half/full board accommodation at facilities in the slope area, ski/snowboard equipment rental, daily skipass, group lessons with certified instructors, round-trip transfers, and health/accident insurance. At the equipment rental point, boots, skis/boards, helmets, and poles are provided according to each trainee's measurements; equipment exchange is provided free of charge throughout the camp.

Program and Participant Profile

Days begin with technical training in the morning and continue with level-appropriate free skiing and group activities in the afternoon. The camp is suitable for children and teenagers aged 8-16, as well as adults who are starting to ski for the first time. The short slope structure allows for the safe reinforcement of basic stance and braking techniques. In the evenings, relaxation and social activities are planned with a view of Sapanca Lake. The field team includes personnel trained in first aid, and equipment safety is checked daily. Thanks to its proximity to Istanbul, families can easily visit participants during the camp.
