Fethiye (Mugla) Sailing Academy Camp

Stretching in the shadow of Babadağ, Fethiye Bay provides an ideal setting for residential sailing academy camps due to its vast and largely sheltered structure. Organized in Karacaören Bay and the calmer sections of the gulf, the camp allows both children and young athletes to have their first sailing experience with Optimist boats, and adults to improve their skills with Laser and adult-class boats. Throughout the five to seven-day program, participants progress step-by-step within the bay's variable yet predictable wind regime.

Training Program

Each day begins with a morning theory lesson, covering wind and current knowledge, boat parts, and basic sailing rules. Afterward, balance and maneuvering practice take place in the calm inner parts of the bay, and in the following days, participants venture into more open waters to try route tracking and sailing techniques against the wind. Beginner and intermediate groups work separately, aiming for everyone to develop at their own pace. The gentle wind flow descending from Babadağ to the bay offers a favorable environment for participants to learn how to estimate routes.

Accommodation, Meals, and Equipment

The camp fee includes accommodation, three meals a day, boat and sailing equipment, life jackets, training materials, and a level certificate provided at the end of the program. Participants do not need to bring any additional gear; all technical equipment is checked and prepared by the instructors before the camp. Accommodation is provided in facilities a short distance from the bay, keeping travel time to the training area to a minimum.

Safety and Support Boat

The vast yet enclosed structure of Fethiye Bay makes it possible to quickly pull boats to a calm area in case of sudden weather changes. A motorized support boat is constantly on-site during every training session, the use of life jackets is mandatory, and sea conditions are continuously monitored by the instructors. In the event of unexpectedly strengthening winds, the program is adjusted, and participants are directed to the inner part of the bay. This ensures that the camp offers a safe, enjoyable, and educational sea holiday for children sailing for the first time, as well as for teenagers and adults looking to consolidate their experience.
