Bodrum (Mugla) Sailing Academy Camp

The residential sailing academy camp held in the bays of Bodrum brings participants of all levels, from children to adults, together with the sea in the windy waters along the Gümbet, Bitez, and Yalıkavak line. The meltem wind, which blows regularly in the afternoons during the summer months, offers an ideal learning environment for junior athletes training with Optimist boats, as well as for adults practicing with Laser and adult-sized boats. Throughout the five to seven-day camp, participants learn fundamental knowledge such as wind reading, sailing angles, and boat balance in morning theoretical sessions, and move on to practice in the calm and sheltered parts of the bay in the afternoons.

Program and Training Content

The daily program begins with morning theory lessons and boat preparation, followed by sailing out, maneuvers, and route exercises under the guidance of licensed instructors. In the evening evaluation meetings, the day's videos are reviewed to discuss areas for improvement. While beginners start with boat balance and basic maneuvers, those at the intermediate level work on sailing against the wind and racing tactics. Conducted in small groups, the training ensures that each participant's individual progress is closely monitored, with additional practice sessions planned when necessary.

Accommodation and Included Services

The camp fee includes accommodation, three meals a day, the boat and all sailing equipment, life jackets, training materials, and a level certificate provided at the end of the camp. Participants do not need to bring their own equipment; everything is provided at the camp, except for sunscreen and personal belongings. Since the accommodation area is located close to the seaside, participants can enjoy the view of the bay outside of training hours as well.

Safety and Supervision

Throughout all sea activities, instructor boats and a motorized escort boat are constantly on-site; the use of life jackets is mandatory, and wind and wave conditions are continuously monitored. Bodrum's sheltered bay structure allows participants to be quickly moved to a safe zone in case of sudden weather changes. Instructors evaluate the weather forecast every morning and shape the day's program accordingly. The camp offers a safe, disciplined, and fun learning journey for both children who will sail for the first time and youth and adults who want to advance their experience.
