What is this training?
Stretching from the mirror-like waters of Lake Sapanca to the waterfall valleys of Maşukiye, Sakarya is the well-known address of nature-based retreats and the search for peace. In this city where the morning mist lifts along the lakeshore, yoga is in perfect harmony with the rhythm of nature. Guided by our certified instructor, this Beginner Yoga Course lets you take your first step onto the mat even with no experience at all and discover your body and breath from scratch. The stillness of the mist rising over the lake gives your learning journey a soft beginning.
What You Will Learn
The program teaches the most foundational asanas of yoga from the very beginning. You will learn to practice postures such as mountain pose, downward-facing dog, warrior sequences, and seated forward folds with correct alignment. As the lakeside coolness of Sapanca fills your lungs, you will open your body with safe practice and without strain. In each posture you learn to unite the breath with movement, to protect your joints, and to find balance.
Week by Week Program
In the first weeks we focus on foundational postures and breath awareness. In later weeks, sun salutation flows, balancing poses, and simple stretching sequences are added. Thanks to this multi-week progressive structure, each lesson is built upon the previous one. In this retreat atmosphere between lake and forest, flexibility, strength, and inner calm develop week by week. In the middle weeks, hip and shoulder openers and gentle backbends are added. At the end of the program you learn to combine what you have learned into a flowing whole and to build a short personal sequence.
Breath and Meditation
Pranayama techniques are the heart of this course. Through diaphragmatic breathing, alternate nostril breathing, and calming deep breath work, you will learn to still your mind. The meditation and relaxation sessions at the end of each lesson clarify your mind like the serene surface of Lake Sapanca. This peace, matching the sound of Maşukiye's waterfalls, reflects into your inner world as a deep stillness. In time you learn to use your breath as a tool for calming yourself in the middle of daily stress.
No Experience Needed
This course is prepared entirely for beginners. Anyone who has never done yoga, who is shy about their flexibility, or who has been inactive for a long time can join. Because we work in small groups, our instructor gives personal attention to each participant, correcting your postures and offering suggestions tailored to you. Whatever your age or physical history, your journey begins from scratch and you progress at your own pace.
Your Instructor and What Is Included
Our certified instructor blends experience with a patient and encouraging approach. All equipment such as mats, blocks, and straps is provided; you only need to bring comfortable clothing. Correct alignment and safe practice are carefully emphasized at every step of the course, and we find together a variation of each posture that suits your body.
After the Course
When this course is complete, yoga becomes a lasting habit befitting Sakarya's nature-based culture of peace. Walking along the shore of Lake Sapanca or in a corner of your home, you will have the knowledge and confidence to continue what you have learned on your own. This journey is the first step toward making peace with your body and meeting your breath. You will gain the key to carrying the peace of the lake and forest within you. It gifts you a balance and stillness that will accompany you for a lifetime; with every breath you return to the silence of a retreat.
