What is this training?
Located on Anatolia's broad inland plateau, Konya is a city far from the sea where a continental climate prevails. In this geography with limited open water sources, the safest and most effective way to learn to swim is through indoor pools that operate year-round. This Beginner Swimming Course is a structured program delivered by certified instructors for children and adults starting from scratch. In modern indoor pool facilities in Selçuklu and Meram, you can learn to swim safely regardless of the season. This course is not a one-off experience; it is a multi-week journey that builds real swimming skills by overcoming the fear of water step by step. Living in a city far from the sea is no obstacle to learning to swim.
What This Course Includes
Our program is designed entirely for people who cannot swim at all. In the first stage you get comfortable in the water and overcome the fear of water; then proper breathing technique, staying balanced in the water, and floating on the surface are taught. You gradually work on freestyle and breaststroke, along with kick and arm technique. We build a lasting foundation by reinforcing each movement patiently and with repetition. Because access to the sea is difficult in Central Anatolia's continental climate, many residents of Konya never had the chance to learn to swim; in this program you can progress safely no matter your age.
The Program Spread Over Weeks
The first week covers water confidence and breath control; the second week floating and gliding; the third and fourth weeks kicking and freestyle arms; the following weeks address breaststroke technique and breathing coordination. Each lesson builds upon the previous one, and your instructor closely tracks your progress. By the end of the program, the goal is for you to swim independently along the length of the pool.
Water Safety and Breathing Technique
The most critical part of learning to swim is safety. In our lessons we teach staying calm during panic, the back-float resting position, and safe entry and exit techniques. A correct rhythm of breathing in and out is the foundation of swimming without tiring, which is why we give special importance to breathing exercises. We turn exhaling underwater and inhaling on time at the surface into an automatic reflex. When you head to the seaside or a lake on summer holiday, this safety knowledge can protect your family's life.
Who It Is For
This course is for children and adults who cannot swim at all. We use a playful, reassuring approach for children, while for adults we apply patient instruction focused on overcoming fear. With small group or one-to-one private lesson options, you can learn at your own pace. Small group lessons are ideal for those who prefer a social setting.
Your Instructor and What Is Included
Your lessons are given by certified swimming coaches experienced in teaching both children and adults. Pool use and basic training equipment are included in the program. A safe learning environment is provided with aids such as a kickboard, arm floats, and a buoy. The indoor pools in Selçuklu and Meram provide a controlled and hygienic learning environment in every season of the year.
After the Course
With the skill you gain by the end of the course, you can safely enjoy swimming in Konya's pools and at holiday resorts. On this fertile plain far from the sea, learning to swim opens the door to a healthy life and self-confidence. Swimming is a sport suited to every age that works the whole body without straining the joints. On the foundation you build, you can, if you wish, develop your fitness and your strokes. We are with you at every step of this journey.
