What is this training?
The Karataş coast of Adana, with the warm waters of the Mediterranean and a long diving season, is a highly favourable spot for those about to start underwater sports. Thanks to water temperatures that remain accessible for most of the year and generally calm conditions, Karataş offers an ideal environment for a beginner-level scuba diving course. This program is designed to prepare participants with no prior diving experience for their first certified dives in a safe and gradual way.
The course consists of three core stages: theory lessons, shallow water practice and open water dives. In the theory sessions we cover the fundamentals of diving physics, the pressure–depth relationship, equipment familiarisation and correct use, dive planning, hand signals and the steps to follow in emergencies. During the shallow water stage, vital skills such as mask clearing, regulator recovery, achieving neutral buoyancy with the BCD and ear equalisation are reinforced through repeated practice in a safe environment.
Once the participant reaches a level where they can comfortably perform the basic skills, we move on to open water dives accompanied by a certified instructor. In this part of the Mediterranean, sandy seabeds transitioning to rocky ground, various bottom-dwelling fish and marine life observable by season make the training dives both instructive and enjoyable. Our program is run with a low diver-to-instructor ratio, so every participant receives adequate attention, supervision and personal feedback.
All the diving equipment needed throughout the course (tank, regulator, BCD, mask, fins and a suitably thick wetsuit) is provided by us. Participants only need to bring a swimsuit, a towel, sun protection and comfortable clothing. The program is open to anyone over the age of 10 who can swim and whose health does not prevent diving. A short medical statement is completed before participation, and a doctor's approval may be requested where deemed necessary.
Why Karataş? This part of the Mediterranean is an easy-to-reach diving gateway for visitors from Central Anatolia and the Çukurova region, with a long season and warm water. Because the water temperature stays suitable from spring to autumn, the training calendar offers great flexibility. The program usually spans two days: theory and shallow water work on the first day, open water dives on the second. The number of participants is kept limited, so the instructor can closely follow each diver's skills. Karataş's calm shore allows beginners to progress at their own rhythm without feeling under pressure. On request, we can provide guidance on accommodation and transport to turn your training into a comfortable weekend plan.
Participants who successfully complete the assessment at the end of the program earn an internationally valid entry-level diver certification and become able to dive to certain depths under the guidance of a dive leader. Safety is our most important priority: all equipment is regularly maintained, dives are planned according to current, wave and visibility conditions, and every group is led by an experienced dive leader. Contact us for available dates and reservations, and take the first step of your diving passion safely in Karataş.
