What is this training?
Gökçeada is not only Turkey's largest island but also one of its most special diving destinations, thanks to its clean waters, protected marine areas and rich underwater life. Located in the cool, crystalline waters of the northern Aegean, the island frequently offers visibility beyond 20 meters, with seabeds covered in seagrass meadows and rocky reefs. This makes it an ideal environment for both newcomers and experienced divers. This beginner-level scuba diving course is designed to prepare participants with no prior experience for their first certified dives, step by step.
The course consists of three stages: theory lessons, confined (shallow) water practice, and open water dives. In the theory sessions we cover diving physics, pressure and its effects on the body, equipment familiarisation, dive planning, hand signals and emergency procedures. During the shallow water stage, essential skills such as mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy control with the BCD and ear equalisation are practiced repeatedly in a safe environment. Once the participant can perform these skills comfortably, we move on to open water dives at selected sites around the island, always accompanied by a certified instructor.
Our program follows international standards and keeps the diver-to-instructor ratio low, so every participant receives enough attention and feedback. The bays around Yıldızkoy and Kefalos, with their posidonia meadows, grouper, two-banded bream and colourful rockfish, are perfectly suited to training dives. All diving equipment (tank, regulator, BCD, mask, fins and wetsuit) is provided by us throughout the course; you only need to bring a swimsuit, a towel and comfortable clothing.
This course is open to anyone over the age of 10 who can swim and whose health is suitable for diving. Before participation, a short medical statement is completed, and a doctor's approval may be requested where necessary. Participants who successfully complete the program earn an internationally recognised entry-level diver certification and become able to dive to certain depths under the guidance of a dive leader.
Program details: The course usually spans two days; the first day covers theory and confined water skills, while the second is dedicated to open water dives. The total duration is flexible according to the participant's pace, and each learner is given digital or printed materials aligned with international training standards. What makes Gökçeada special is not only its clear water but also its low marine traffic, protected ecosystem and calm atmosphere away from mass tourism, so training dives take place in a safe setting in harmony with nature.
Safety is our top priority: all equipment is regularly maintained, dives are planned according to current, wave and visibility conditions, and every group is led by an experienced dive leader. If you would like to take your first step into the underwater world in a safe, enjoyable and professional environment, this program is exactly for you.
