What is this training?
In Eskişehir, where the Porsuk Stream flows through the city and student energy brings it alive, this beginner tennis course is designed from scratch for those who have never held a racket. In this modern, youthful city, you will learn tennis step by step with patient, reassuring teaching. Our aim is for each participant to progress enjoyably and without pressure. No prior experience is needed.
Why start tennis in Eskişehir?
Eskişehir's continental climate is cold in winter and mild in summer, so spring and autumn are ideal for outdoor courts while indoor options come into play in winter. You can reach facilities in the Tepebaşı and Odunpazarı districts extremely easily via the city's famous tram line and public transport network. The lively student population of Anadolu and Osmangazi universities shows great interest in sport and tennis, creating a young, dynamic and supportive community for beginners. Life along the Porsuk also allows pleasant breaks after the lesson.
Which techniques are in the program?
Our program builds the fundamentals step by step. First you learn the correct grip: the eastern grip for the forehand, the continental for serves and volleys, and one- or two-handed options for the backhand. Then, through the ready stance, split-step and side-step drills, you master balanced movement. We reinforce the forehand take-back and weight transfer, the backhand shoulder turn, and the serve toss and racket-head acceleration with slow balls. Target and reaction drills for hand-eye coordination are added every lesson.
Weekly flow and program
The program is built on two or three sessions a week. The first weeks cover grip, stance and feel; later weeks are enriched with forehand-backhand rallies, serves and simple game scenarios. Each lesson starts with a warm-up and dynamic stretching, continues with the technical section and ends with mini games. Court rules, singles and doubles play and the 15-30-40 scoring system are taught in practice.
About equipment and courts
If you do not have a racket, we provide beginner-friendly ones. We guide you on proper tennis shoes, grip size and hydration. Warm-up and stretching are the key to avoiding injury and are never skipped.
What happens in your first lesson?
On day one we do not leave you alone. In small groups of at most five or six, our experienced instructors give individual feedback to each participant. Your first shots are about feeling the ball and befriending the racket; the process is quite fun.
What do you gain as you progress?
Within a few months you will build controlled rallies, put your serve into play and be ready for your first match. Tennis brings balance, conditioning and reflexes as well as new friendships.
Who can join?
This program is open to beginners of every age. Whether you are a student, a worker or someone seeking a new hobby, you need no athletic background. By the banks of the Porsuk, in the energy of a spacious university city, we look forward to welcoming you to take your first step into tennis.
