What is this training?
Erzurum is one of Turkey's highest and coldest cities, known for its long winter months and snowy climate. These harsh weather conditions make the city's indoor heated swimming pools indispensable for year-round training. Our Beginner Swimming Course, run in facilities across Yakutiye, Palandöken, and Aziziye, takes children and adults who cannot swim and turns them into safe swimmers from zero. Our certified coaches progress patiently in the warm pool while snow falls outside, and build confidence without skipping a single stage.
What You Will Learn
We begin with building water confidence, putting your face in the water, and breath control. Floating, gliding, correct kicking, and arm technique follow. You gradually grasp the fundamentals of freestyle (front crawl) and breaststroke.
In this city known for the ski culture of Palandöken, you also open a door to summer sports and water safety. Each skill is built safely on the last.
Breathing and Water Confidence
Hesitation around water is common among adults learning late in life. Our instructors address it without judgment, with gentle breathing exercises in the shallow end. Through blowing bubbles and rhythmic breathing drills, you feel how your body is supported in the water.
Breath control is the most critical foundation of safe swimming. As you control your breathing you relax in the water, and the more you relax the more fluidly you swim.
Week by Week Program
Our multi-week program is gradual. The first week covers water adaptation and breathing; the second gliding and floating; the third and fourth freestyle leg and arm coordination; later weeks focus on breaststroke technique and increasing distance. By the end of the program, the goal is for you to swim the length of the pool unassisted.
Each lesson begins by revisiting the previous week's gains, so that what you learn becomes permanent.
Who It Is For
It suits children aged 5 and up who cannot swim, and adults of every age. In a city where the chance to learn to swim is limited by the cold climate, our indoor pools close this gap. It is ideal for families who care about their child's water safety and for adults who want to learn late in life. We offer small-group or one-to-one private lesson options.
What Is Included
Use of the indoor heated pool, accompaniment by a certified coach, flotation equipment for safe progress, and personal development tracking are all included. Even in Erzurum's harsh winter, the heated pool offers a comfortable and uninterrupted learning environment; you train regularly whatever the season and receive concrete feedback every week.
The Indoor Pool Advantage in Winter
During Erzurum's months-long snowy winter, outdoor water sport is unthinkable; but our indoor heated pools offer a great advantage precisely here. While the temperature outside sits below zero, you keep learning regularly in the warm water. So swimming instruction, which is squeezed into summer in many other cities, spreads across the whole year here. Swimming is an ideal sport that revives a body kept still through winter, works all the muscles, and spares the joints, giving confidence and coordination to children and fitness and stress relief to adults. Just bring a swimsuit, cap, towel, and goggles; our warm changing and shower areas complete your comfort.
Your Instructor and After the Course
Our instructors are certified, experienced, and skilled at working with beginners; patience and safety are their priorities. When you complete the course you gain the confidence to feel safe in the water. On summer holidays you enter the sea or pool without hesitation, and continue your development with our advanced stroke and endurance programs. In Erzurum's high, cold climate, our indoor pools open a safe door to learning, whatever the season.
