What is this training?
Bodrum, the pearl of Muğla, is one of the most important centers for international-standard sailing training in Turkey. This sailing school offers liveaboard training to IYT and RYA standards, aiming to develop professional seafarers and amateur skippers from beginner to advanced level. Guided by certified instructors and experienced captains, you will experience the unique adventure of learning by living aboard the boat. Bodrum's rich maritime culture and favourable conditions turn this training into an unforgettable journey.
Liveaboard Training
Liveaboard training is the way to learn seamanship in its most authentic and intensive form. Throughout the course, students live aboard the boat; they experience not only sailing but all the practical aspects of life on board. Anchoring, the watch system, passage planning, preparing meals at sea, and boat maintenance become part of the daily routine. This intensive experience ensures that skills settle quickly and permanently. The time spent aboard through day and night shows in every respect what real seamanship is like.
International Certification
The program offers training in accordance with IYT (International Yacht Training) and RYA (Royal Yachting Association) standards. These certificates are recognised worldwide and are valid for a professional maritime career or amateur skippering in international waters. Students prove their competence through theoretical exams and practical assessments. The certification preparation process proceeds with guidance from start to finish and gives the student an internationally recognised competence.
Comprehensive Curriculum
The training ranges from basic seamanship to advanced sailing techniques. Wind reading, points of sail, tacking and gybing manoeuvres, sail trim, and boat handling are covered in detail. In addition, chart reading, passage calculation, meteorology, night navigation, anchoring techniques, and emergency management are part of the curriculum. Aspiring amateur skippers become familiar with all the boat's systems, learning the basic workings of the engine, electrical, and water systems.
Bodrum's Seamanship
The Bodrum peninsula offers a rich training ground with its varied bays and wind conditions. The different directions and strengths of the Meltem wind give students a broad range of experience. Varied conditions, from sheltered coves to open-sea passages, ensure that students develop as versatile seafarers. The region's deep-rooted maritime culture adds depth to the training and inspires students.
Who It Is For
This program addresses everyone who wishes to learn seamanship seriously and aims for international certification. Those starting at beginner level build a solid foundation; experienced sailors elevate their skills to a professional level. It is ideal for aspiring amateur skippers who wish to command their own boat and for those aiming for a maritime career. It is also a unique opportunity for those who wish to experience living at sea for an extended period.
Safety and Professionalism
Life jackets and safety equipment are complete in all training. A detailed briefing is held before every passage, and weather conditions and the passage plan are carefully assessed. Instructors fully comply with international safety standards. The liveaboard sailing training you receive in Bodrum will transform you into both a competent and safe seafarer, giving you the knowledge and confidence to chart your own course in international waters.
