What is this training?
Learn the fundamentals of freediving step by step with a certified instructor in the clear Aegean bays of ancient Assos. This course covers everything from breathing and relaxation to ear equalization, duck dives and finning technique in a safe, enjoyable setting. Optional certification is available.
Why freedive in Assos?
With its calm, sheltered coves, Assos is one of Turkey's best spots for freediving instruction. The wind-protected water provides the stillness you need to learn, while the clarity of the pebbled seabed boosts visibility and confidence. This unique geography beneath the ancient city offers an ideal classroom for combining theory and practice.
What will you learn in the course?
Your training starts with theory on land: breathing physiology, relaxation methods and safety rules. Then in the water you practice diaphragmatic breathing, relaxation, ear equalization (the Frenzel technique), proper duck dives and efficient finning. Your instructor introduces the basics of static apnea and dynamic apnea step by step, along with the buddy system and rescue fundamentals.
Who is it suitable for?
This course suits anyone starting freediving from scratch. Basic swimming ability and comfort in water are enough. No prior diving experience is required; progress is individual and suited to every level. Those with health conditions should consult a doctor beforehand.
