Antalya Beginner Tennis Course

What is this training?

In Antalya, known as Turkey's tennis capital, this beginner course for those who have never held a racket brings you together with the Mediterranean's unique climate. In a city that hosts international tournaments and welcomes players from around the world, you will enjoy learning from scratch in an atmosphere where the sport feels native. Guided by an instructor, you will set out on a patient, enjoyable journey. No prior experience is needed.

Why is Antalya ideal for beginners?

Antalya is one of the rare cities where you can play outdoors almost all year. Thanks to mild winters, you can train under the sun even in December and January; we only favor morning and evening hours to avoid the oppressive heat of summer middays. You can easily reach quality courts in Konyaaltı, Lara and Muratpaşa, and academies around many resorts. As a city of ATP tournaments and winter camps, Antalya lets beginners breathe a professional air on its red clay courts, which are also gentler on the knees.

Which techniques are in the program?

Our program builds the fundamentals one by one. First you learn the correct grip: the eastern grip for the forehand, the continental grip for serves and volleys, and one- or two-handed options for the backhand. Through the stance, split-step and the sliding footwork important on clay, you practice fluid movement and weight transfer. We reinforce the forehand take-back and topspin, the backhand torso rotation, and the serve toss and racket-head acceleration with slow balls and proper mechanics. Target and reaction drills for hand-eye coordination are added every lesson.

How does the weekly flow work?

The program advances with two or three sessions a week. The first weeks cover grip, stance and feel; later weeks are enriched with forehand-backhand rallies, serves and simple game scenarios. Every lesson starts with a warm-up, dynamic stretching and the technical section, ending with mini games. Court rules, singles and doubles play and the scoring system (15-30-40, advantage, set, tie-break) are taught in practice.

About equipment and courts

If you lack equipment, we provide a racket. We guide you on shoes with a suitable sole pattern for clay, a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water. To avoid injury under the Mediterranean sun, every lesson begins with a full warm-up and stretching.

What awaits you in your first lesson?

On day one we do not hand you a racket and step aside. Working in small groups of at most five or six, we give individual attention to each participant. When you hit your first shot on the red clay, you will immediately feel Antalya's tennis spirit.

What do you gain as you progress?

Within a few months you will build controlled rallies, put your serve into play and be ready for your first match. In a city so close to the sea and sun, tennis raises both your fitness and your quality of life.

Who can join?

This program is open to beginners of every age and level. Whether you live in the city or are a guest on holiday, it is a perfect time to take your first step into tennis in Antalya. With the Taurus Mountains behind you and the Mediterranean breeze around you, among palms and bitter-orange trees, we look forward to welcoming you to the courts. A healthy habit, new friendships and a lifelong passion begin here.

Frequently asked questions

I am on holiday and here only briefly; can I join? Yes; in Antalya we arrange flexible beginner sessions for both residents and guests. Is clay court difficult?
