What is this training?
This four-day programme is built to take someone starting golf from zero to the point where they can walk onto a course and play. In Ankara the training runs at the facilities along the Ankara Golf Club axis around Gölbaşı, using the driving range, practice green and bunker areas there. Work proceeds one to one or in small groups of no more than three, and that is a technical requirement rather than a comfort. Height, flexibility and shoulder width give every player a different swing geometry, and correcting it depends on individual observation. Coaching is delivered by certified PGA or TGF professionals. All equipment, clubs, balls and a glove included, is provided for the duration, and a certificate of attendance is issued at the end.
Day by Day
The first day is devoted to fundamentals: the grip, the stance with its width and weight distribution, and alignment, meaning how the body sets itself to the target line. Without these three properly built, no shot becomes repeatable. The second half of the day moves to short irons on the range. Day two turns to swing mechanics, working on swing plane, torso rotation, keeping the arms passive, and distance control with mid irons. Day three opens the wider end of the game: the drive from the tee, where woods and hybrids belong, sand shots out of the bunker, and chipping around the green. Day four begins on the putting green and concentrates on distance feel and reading the surface. Rules and etiquette follow, and the day is completed with a playing round on the course, the section where four days of learning are tested on real ground under supervision.
How Ankara's Air Changes the Ball
The steppe climate of Central Anatolia carries a technical detail worth learning from day one. Ankara sits at roughly a thousand metres and its air is dry, thin and low in density. Thinner air means less drag on the ball, so the same swing with the same club will carry noticeably further here than it would at sea level. This is a reality you have to calibrate your club selection against during the course, and it teaches you from the outset to think about distance and altitude together. Dry air also firms the ground, so the ball runs more after it lands. As for the season, spring and autumn are decisively the best in Ankara. Summer middays can be hot and punishing, so sessions shift to the morning, while in winter work continues on days the ground is not frozen.
At the End of the Four Days
The intended outcome is concrete: enough competence to play on your own, a repeatable swing you can call yours, the ability to pick the right club for the distance, working knowledge of rules and etiquette, and a solid start to your handicap journey. Depending on the facility, modern tools such as video analysis and ball-flight data may be used along the way. Seeing your own motion with your own eyes makes a verbal correction land far faster than words alone. The four days can be taken consecutively or spread across two weekends. The certificate of attendance is issued on completion and stands as a record of your beginner experience when applying for club membership or moving on to more advanced coaching.
