What is this training?
Set against Adana's warm Mediterranean climate and the energy of the Çukurova plain, this beginner tennis course is designed from scratch for those who have never held a racket. In a city cooled by the Seyhan River at its heart, you will learn tennis with a safe, enjoyable and patient teaching approach. Our goal is for you to feel comfortable the moment you step onto the court and to make small but real progress in every session. No prior knowledge is needed; only openness to learning.
Why start tennis in Adana?
Because Adana's summers are quite hot and humid, our program is planned smartly: early mornings and cooler evenings in July and August, and midday hours in spring, autumn and winter. Between November and March, Adana's mild weather allows uninterrupted outdoor training. You can easily reach courts in the Seyhan, Çukurova and Yüreğir districts by public transport and walk along the Seyhan Dam Lake or through Merkez Park afterwards. Adana's rooted sports culture and the warm atmosphere of its neighborhood clubs offer an encouraging environment for beginners.
Which techniques are in the program?
The course builds the fundamentals step by step. First you learn the correct grip: the eastern grip for the forehand, the continental grip for serves and volleys, and one-handed or two-handed options for the backhand. Then, through the ready stance, the split-step and side-stepping, you learn balanced movement on court. On the forehand we patiently reinforce the take-back, hip rotation and weight transfer; on the backhand, the shoulder turn and follow-through, all with slow balls. The serve is broken into parts: the toss, the leg drive and accelerating the racket head. Simple reaction and target drills that build hand-eye coordination are added every lesson.
How does the weekly flow work?
The program is usually built on two or three sessions a week. The first weeks cover grip, stance and feel for the ball; later weeks add forehand and backhand rally work, then serves and simple game scenarios. Each lesson starts with about ten minutes of warm-up and dynamic stretching, continues with the technical section and ends with mini games. You grasp court rules, singles and doubles logic and the scoring system (15-30-40, advantage, set, tie-break) by playing on court.
Equipment and court support
If you do not have a racket, no problem; we provide beginner-friendly rackets. Our instructors guide you on the right grip size, proper tennis shoes and drinking plenty of water in Adana's heat. The warm-up and stretching routine, the key to avoiding injury in a hot climate, is never skipped.
What do you gain as you progress?
Within a few months you will send the ball back under control, build rallies of ten to fifteen shots and perhaps play your first match. Tennis improves reflexes, balance and conditioning while strengthening mental focus.
Who can join?
This program suits adults, students and anyone who wants to reconnect with sport. No age limit or athletic background is needed. On a spring morning scented with orange blossom or a cool autumn evening, we look forward to welcoming you to take your first step into tennis in this lively city of Çukurova.
