Hittite Trail Trekking Experience
About the experience
This trekking experience on the Hittite Trail, accompanied by a guide, offers an unforgettable walk through nature and history. At your own pace, with an experienced guide, you discover this matchless route.
About this route
The Hittite Trail is a historic route of about 236 kilometres, made up of ancient Hittite roads in the triangle of Hattusa, Alacahöyük and Šapinuwa. Bringing together walking and cultural discovery, it lets you trace an empire thousands of years old among the quiet steppes of Central Anatolia.
What is trekking?
Trekking (long nature walking) is an outdoor sport done on natural trails, mountain and forest paths, refreshing both body and mind. Moving step by step through landscapes, history and untouched nature lets you get completely away from daily stress. Done with a guide, it is both safe and far more enjoyable.
Why trekking?
Trekking, when done regularly, is a powerful exercise that builds endurance, supports cardiovascular health and works the whole body in a balanced way. Beyond that, walking amid the sounds of nature calms the mind, reduces stress and refreshes concentration. As your body strengthens, your spirit rests too — it is this holistic effect that makes trekking so valuable.
Important: transport is not included
This is an experience product; there is no service or bus departure from a specific point. You reach the route’s starting point yourself, by your own vehicle or by public transport. The meeting point and time are shared with you after the reservation. If you prefer the option where transport (service) is included, you can look at the “Tour” version of the same route.
How does the experience unfold?
You meet your guide at the designated meeting point and, after a short introduction and safety briefing, begin the walk. Along the route the guide sets the pace, plans the breaks and shares information about the region’s nature, history and stories. The walk ends at the designated finish point.
Who is it for?
This route is open to anyone who enjoys walking in nature; however, a reasonable level of fitness is recommended depending on the length and difficulty of the trail. The guides adjust the pace to the group’s level. The required difficulty, estimated duration and age conditions are shared clearly before the reservation. For group bookings, special date requests and route suggestions suited to your level, you can contact us before booking.
What to bring?
We recommend bringing comfortable, supportive walking shoes, layered clothing suited to the season, a raincoat, a hat, sunscreen, enough water and energy-giving snacks. Keep your backpack light and follow the equipment list the guide shares after the reservation.
Safety
Your safety is our priority: all walks are done with experienced, certified guides on marked routes. The guides carry first-aid equipment, keep the group together and constantly monitor the weather. If conditions are unsuitable, the activity is postponed to a safe day.
Best time
The best period varies by route; spring and autumn are ideal for the coastal routes, and the summer months for high-altitude routes. The exact date and time are set according to the route’s conditions at that time and shared with you in advance.
What is included?
The package includes a guided walk with an experienced guide, route planning and a safety briefing. Transport (service) is not included; getting to the trailhead is up to you.
