Antalya Motosurf Experience
About the experience
The Antalya Motosurf Experience is a single ninety-minute session built for anyone curious about the motorised carbon surfboard. No previous watersports background is required and no skill level is assumed. If you have never stood on a board of any kind, this is still the right starting point. Unlike traditional surfing, Motosurf does not depend on waves at all. The board carries its own engine, so it performs at full strength on flat water, including the glassy surface Konyaaltı offers on a windless morning. That is precisely what makes Antalya special for this sport. You never wait for a swell, and this stretch of the Mediterranean holds the longest watersports season in Turkey, running comfortably from early April into late November, with mild winters keeping the sea temperature workable on many days beyond that.
The Taurus Backdrop and a Board That Reaches Nearly 60 km/h
Your session starts on the pebble shoreline of Konyaaltı beach. Once you are on the water, the Beydağları range of the Taurus Mountains drops almost vertically into the sea behind you while the clear Mediterranean blue stretches ahead. There is no propeller beneath the board; thrust comes from a jet pump, which keeps the setup safe and lets it operate happily in shallow water. The carbon fibre hull weighs roughly thirteen to fifteen kilograms, and the first time you squeeze the throttle it surges forward with surprising eagerness. Ridden well, these boards reach the 55 to 60 km/h range, though speed is never the goal of a first session. Control is. You manage power with a wireless throttle strapped to your right hand, and you steer through body weight rather than any handlebar. The sensation sits somewhere between snowboarding and riding a motorcycle, and it is genuinely enjoyable from the very first minutes.
How the Session Runs and How We Keep It Safe
The programme opens with a short shoreline briefing covering how the board works, how the throttle responds, and most importantly the safety leash. Clipped to your wrist or buoyancy vest, this kill switch cord cuts the engine the instant you lose balance and fall; the board stops where it is rather than continuing toward you. Your first ride is done kneeling. Once you understand how the engine responds, how the nose lifts and how turns feel from a kneeling stance, your instructor walks you through standing up in stages. Some guests get a few standing runs in during this first session and others enjoy the whole ninety minutes on their knees. Both outcomes are completely normal. Wetsuit, impact vest and buoyancy vest are provided and fitted to your size before you enter the water.
Timing and Backup Spots Along the Coast
Mornings are by far the most productive window. A light onshore breeze typically builds at Konyaaltı in the afternoon and ruffles the surface, which experienced riders enjoy but which slows down a first-timer considerably. When the wind arrives earlier than forecast, the session can shift to the sheltered coves around Kemer, the Beldibi shoreline or the Lara side. That flexibility is Antalya's real advantage: somewhere along this coast, conditions are always workable. With the airport inside the city and the marina and Kaleiçi old town sitting right next door, the rest of your day plans itself easily around the session. All you need to bring is swimwear, a towel and the willingness to get wet.
