Antalya Golf Range Experience
About the experience
This is a ninety-minute introduction designed for people who have never started golf. You do not play a round; the whole session is spent on the driving range with an instructor beside you. What makes Antalya distinctive for this is the Belek golf corridor's standing on the world golf map. Along the Kadriye and Belek line, a dense cluster of internationally designed courses sits side by side, and it is no accident that much of Europe comes here to train through its own winter. That density has a concrete payoff for a beginner: the quality of the range turf, the upkeep of the hitting mats and the depth of instructor experience all sit noticeably above the national average. Seasonal maintenance of grasses like bermuda and ryegrass is taken seriously here, which means you get an accurate feel for how a ball comes off real turf from your very first swings.
What the Ninety Minutes Contain
Your instructor meets you at the range and opens by asking whether you have played any club sport before. Equipment is then issued: clubs matched to your height and a glove, both supplied by the facility, so there is nothing to bring. A short brief covers grip, stance and alignment. Grip is about the club resting in your fingers rather than your palm. Stance is feet at shoulder width with a tilt forward from the hips. Alignment is your body sitting parallel to the target line, and left uncorrected it will send even a good swing in the wrong direction. Your first shots come with a short iron, usually a nine. The shaft is short, the arc is narrow, and this is where clean contact first appears.
Distance Work and the Putting Green
Once the short iron becomes consistent, you move to a seven iron, and anyone who wants to can try the driver off a tee. The driver is impressive and unforgiving in equal measure, and here your instructor talks less about power than about the follow-through, because most beginners instinctively cut the motion short the moment they touch the ball. The session finishes on the putting green. Greens at the Belek facilities are maintained at genuine tournament speeds, and seeing how readily the ball rolls helps you build a correct sense of distance from the outset.
Season, Timing and Preparation
The Mediterranean climate inverts the Antalya golf calendar. The main season is winter and spring: the stretch from November through April offers the best conditions in both temperature and course traffic, and it is also when golf tourism peaks. Summer is a different proposition. Standing on a range at midday in July or August is not reasonable, so sessions move by necessity to early morning or to late afternoon once the shadows lengthen. Planning around that constraint largely determines how much you enjoy the experience. The physical demand is low, requiring no running or endurance, though ninety minutes of torso rotation may remind you about your obliques the following day. Trainers are sufficient. For a summer session bring a hat, sunglasses and water; for a winter one, consider a thin extra layer against the morning chill. It suits adults and children from about ten upwards. If you are on holiday in Antalya, these ninety minutes are the most practical way to find out whether golf is actually for you.
